Biography
Alex Partal (Málaga, 1989) draws on the classical tradition of easel painting to delve into the deepest recesses of homosexual fetishism. This theme, a constant since his early training, defines a visual approach that is both a tribute to the craft and an exploration of contemporary identity.
His academic trajectory bridges two continents. After beginning his undergraduate studies at the Universitat Politècnica de València in 2007, Partal moved to Bogotá, where he furthered his studies in Visual Arts at the Academia de Artes Guerrero. This international journey enriched his perspective before returning to the UPV to complete his degree in 2021 and consolidate his specialization with a Master's degree in Artistic Production (2024).
Since his debut in 2014, Alex Partal has maintained a constant presence on the art scene, participating in various competitions and galleries. His notable works include exhibitions at Bogotá's Noche en Blanco, the Festival ConFusion in Valencia, and the Novella Gallery Sagunto. A pivotal moment in his career was the selection of his project Viris in corium by the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo of Bogotá for the Proyecto Tesis exhibition in 2018.
Currently, having established his studio in Navarre, the artist is immersed in creating new projects that seek to expand his visual narrative into new horizons.
Statement

Painter of leather and of the men who wear it.
My work emerges from the intersection of figurative painting and the world of homosexual fetishism. My purpose is to invite the viewer to transcend the surface of the fetish and connect with the more human and vulnerable dimension of this community.
Personally connected to this subculture, my approach is an study from inside, exploring its historical, social, and cultural dimensions. Painting thus becomes a vehicle for offering an alternative perspective, one that shuns explicit representation and focuses on suggestion and intimate narrative. In this sense, the nobility and sensuality of oil paint and the elegance of leather have been crucial, providing me with the keys to my own growth as an artist and as an individual.
Currently, my practice is expanding beyond the canvas. This openness to new media and formal solutions is generating fresh proposals that seek to engage the viewer from multiple perspectives, consolidating a constantly evolving visual language.
